Zeichen und Wunder

This is a blog about illustration and animation.
A visual mix tape of different styles and techniques,
like a coloured bouquet of flowers.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

KATRIN FILLINGER

Ok, these are the first steps in illustration and calligraphy. After I quitted my job in the advertising agency I’m trying some new things. Maybe you like it.

RONALD KURNIAWAN

Ronald Kurniawan graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Inspired by ideograms, syllables, letterforms, beasts and heroic landscapes, he slowly but surely continues to create a visual language where the wilderness and civilization could merge happily together. With the belief that the sublime and nuclear age could coexist, he paints romantic environments and breaks the quiet scene with juxtaposed imagery taking the shape of icons and letterforms.   He currently lives and works in Los Angeles where he paints meticulously and happily accompanied by his pug Ruffles, an avid artist himself.

SEAN FREEMAN

Sean likes to make things with stuff. He enjoys shooting all sorts of different materials, then using those shots to create type treatments & illustrations for a varied bunch of people from advertising to publishing. Currently living and working in sunny East London.

TEN PACES AND DRAW is a blog dedicated to illustration and collaboration. Each week a theme is assigned and a group of illustrators sketch based on the theme. Sketches are then exchanged between artists and they finish one another’s work. It’s a fun and simple way to experiment with other illustrators’ styles, and see how one’s work is handled in the hands of another artist. The artist thought it would be fun not only to catalog inspiring work by others, but to start an ongoing illustration project to which thay can all actively contribute.
Who’s in charge?
Ten Paces was started and is currently run by Philadelphia-based illustrators Alyssa Nassner and Rachel Dougherty. The blog began during a lull in paying illustration jobs, and was created as an ongoing excuse to make artwork, as well as a way to connect and network with fellow artists. Alyssa Nassner is an illustrator originally from Bel Air, Maryland, and she graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2010. Since then she’s worked for clients such as Chronicle Books, UPPERCASE Magazine, Dwell Studio, American Girl, and more.
Rachel Dougherty is originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, and also a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2010. Her clients include Port Discovery, Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, Woman to Woman Magazine, and Philadelphia Stories Magazine. She’s currently in the process of illustrating two children’s picture books for Capstone.
